Tarok nation calls for completion of barracks

An appeal for the completion of the abandoned Mobile Police Barracks located at Kadarko Chiefdom in Wase LGA of Plateau State has been made by the Tarok Nation, so as to facilitate prompt intervention on recurring attacks on communities within the chiefdom.

This was contained in a press statement issued to journalists and signed by the National Secretary of the Tarok Socio-Cultural Development Association (Ngwang Ishi O’Tarok – NIO).

The call was made by the Ag President Langtang joint Traditional Council and Ponzhi Zinni HRH Nimnan Langnim at a stakeholders security meeting held at the Ponzhi Tarok Palace, Langtang recently.

According to the paramount ruler, a lot of lives and properties have been lost as a result of recurring attacks on innocent citizens at Kadarko Chiefdom.

Responding to the call made by the paramount ruler, Secretary to the Government of the state, Arc Samuel N Jatau, who was also at the meeting, promised to pass the message to the governor, on the need to follow up with the appropriate authorities to see to the completion of the project.

It is believed that the completion of the Mobile Police Barracks in Kadarko will safeguard lives and properties of the threatened communities.

The SSG also informed the meeting that he would consult with the governor on the need to provide relief materials to those who were attacked recently by unknown armed men.
He thanked the NIO and the Langtang Joint Traditional Council for organising the meeting, primarily aimed at bringing peace and development in the Kadarko Kingdom.

Earlier in his remarks, the President, Tarok Socio-cultural Development Association (the Ngwang Ishi O’tarok NIO ), Amb Nanpon Danjuma Sheni, expressed appreciation to the Governor of the state, Barr Caleb Mutfwang and the security agencies in the state for restoring relative peace and stability to communities in the state that were recently attacked by unknown armed gunmen.

Sheni debunked the insinuation making the rounds that the Tarok nation had militia groups, trained and used for attacks and counter attacks. He called on the general public to disregard such false claims.

He added that Tarok people are accommodating, peace loving and have lived in peace with their neighbors since time immemorial.

The NIO President admonished Tarok sons and daughters to continue to live in peace with each other and their neighbours.

The meeting was attended by the Chairman of the Langtang North Local Government Council, traditional rulers from Langtang North and South Local Governments and Kadarko, Tarok Elders Forum, religious leaders, youth groups , leaders of development associations, among others.

The meeting condemned the incessant crisis in the Kadarko kingdom and resolved that there should be no more attacks on any community within the chiefdom. A reconciliation committee was set up to resolve contending issues in the communities.
