CSOs protest ban on sachet alcoholic beverages

Over 150 civil society groups recently stormed the National Assembly complex to protest the stoppage of registration of alcohol in sachets and small volume PET and glass bottles below 200ml by the National Agency for Food, Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC.
Spokesman for the group, Adam Matazu, while briefing journalists at the National Assembly Complex, called for the immediate sack of NAFDAC DG, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, for alleged anti_people policies.

Tagged, “let the poor live”, the protesters were led by the Coalition Against Economic Saboteurs. The group lamented that the new policy would further aggravate the suffering of the people and create more problems for the nation’s economy.
He added that the NAFDAC boss was being used by multinationals to destroy small businesses and companies in the country. “We view this policy as a direct assault on the livelihood of millions of Nigerians, a move that will put countless citizens out of work.
