DG NIPPS commends cooperative society for vision

Director General (DG), National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies(NIPSS), Kuru, in Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State, Prof. Ayo Omotayo has applauded the exco of the NIPSS Multi-Purpose Co-operative Society Limited for their tremendous visionary and proactive transformation of the society over the years.

Omatayo expressed this while declaring open the 8th Annual General Meeting(AGM), of the Co-operative Society that was held on Saturday at the Unity Hall of the institution.

He said that he has the confidence that more constructive ideas would be deployed by the new exco in taking the society to a greater heights.

The DG who was ably represented by Mr. Nimfel Cirman, a Senior Research Fellow of the institution, added that he was impressed by the selfless service and commitment of the Executive members to the members.

He urged the leadership of the society to do more to sustain the society’s legacy that is known over the years.

Earlier in a speech by the president of the society, Mr.Christopher Berim Maxwell, he gave an account of his stewardship under review.

He stated that the country’s dwindling economy has affected many businesses of the society, resulting to low interest rate on investment.

Maxwell added that the digitization of the co-operative activities is about 90 percent completion and very soon business transactions would commence online.

In a goodwill message from the Director of Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Plateau State, Mr.Ayuba Azi and the President of Plateau State Co-operative Federation of Nigeria (PLASCOFED), Mrs.Hannatu Mershak, they commended the exco for sustaining the society in ensuring that AGM are held every year since inception and also appreciated members for keeping their trust and faith on the leadership of the society thus far.

The executive is made up of ;Mr.Christopher Berim Maxwell as president returned elected, Mr.Joseph Itse, Vice President returned elected, Mr.Akor Innocent Obande,General Secretary elected, Mallam Baba Muhammed Usman, Assistant General Secretary/PRO elected, Mr.Ikumawoyi Moses, CNA treasurer elected, Patrick Esther Fom, CNA, Financial Secretary elected and Barr.Shekinah Pam, Legal Adviser returned elected.

However, Oyefi tasks the new exco to discharge their duties to the best of their abilities.

Highlights of the event was the presentation of gifts to their members that have retired after after a meritorious service to the institution.
