HAND donates medical kits to ATBUTH

Management and staff of the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, Bauchi have been commended for exhibiting high sense of professionalism in the discharge of their responsibilities.

The commendation was made by a donor agency, Health and Development Support Programme (HAND) while making a donation of some medical kits targeted to be used for patients of Cub Foot and management.

This followed signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the hospital and the agency.

The items presented include POP in dozens, Ortho ban in dozens, Miracle feet brace orthotics in different sizes and a smart phone among other related medical equipments for the orthopedic department.

The agency also organized a training for health personnel in the orthopedic department to rebuild their capacity as medical practitioners on the front-line guiding policy and other professional responsibilities.

Mr. Priestly Adora, who is the state focal person of HAND programme presented the items to the hospital, where he commended management and staff of the health institution for exhibiting high sense of professional practice over the years.

He noted that many states across the country including FCT Abuja had benefited from similar gesture by the donor partner.

He therefore urged beneficiaries of the programme to make good use of the items received and advised them to handle them with care.

Responding, the Chief Medical Director, Prof. Yusuf Jibrin expressed gratitude to the agency for the gesture, saying that the hospital is ready to collaborate with any NGO and MDAs whose intention is geared towards enhancing the productivity of the hospital to provide effective service delivery especially to those suffering from various ailments.

He therefore admonished other sister agencies to emulate the humanitarian gesture.   He however, reiterated his commitment to quality service delivery and charged the public to cooperate with the management of the hospital to achieve the desired goal.

Also speaking, the HOD of Orthopedics Department, ATBUTH Bauchi, Dr. Ibrahim Shapat appreciated the agency for the support and appealed for more in that direction.

He assured that the items donated will be judiciously used by patients especially the low-income earners.
