Sustain investment in education development – Bello

Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has urged his incoming successor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo to sustain his legacy investment in education development.

Bello, who gave the advice while speaking at the 4th combined convocation ceremony for 2013/2014-2022/2023 sets of the Kogi State Polytechnic on Saturday, expressed delight that he came, saw and would be leaving the state better than he met it.

Governor Bello disclosed that part of his achievements is evidenced in the repositioning of the State Polytechnic, Lokoja, assuring that the feat would be sustained by his successor.

” My achievements can be attested where the State Polytechnic was before my assumption of office, where it is now and what we have repositioned it for the future”

He applauded the management, staff and the Governing Council of the polytechnic for their maximum contributions towards the repositioning of the institution. “Iam proud of the Rector, Dr Usman Salisu Ogbo. Will continue to be proud of him and will ever be proud of him”, he said.

The Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic, Dr Usman Salisu Ogbo, in his conviction speech, acknowledged the fact that he has been able to return the lost glory of the institution.

“The polytechnic now prides itself as an institution committed to graduating students with academic excellence and good character”

He commended Governor Yahaya Bello for his enabling support for him to achieve the feat. And said that he will continue to be loyal to Bello even after leaving office for impacting on lives.

Prof. Yakubu Isa, Chairman, Governing Council of the Polytechnic, in his remarks, said the polytechnic will continue to prioritise academic and personal development of students as well as provision of the needed tools and resources for students to continue to succeed.

The Governing Council Chairman praised the State Government and the Tertiary Education Trust Fund for the iconic infrastructure development witnessed in the institution.

High point of the ceremony was conferment of Fellowship Awards on Governor Yahaya Bello, Professor Idris Muhammad Bugaje, Alhaji Isah Ozi Salami, Barr. Jimoh Umoru and Barr. Moses Azubuike Okezie-Okafor.
