Plateau State House of Assembly Committee on Information has assured the management of the Plateau Publishing Corporation (PPC), publishers of THE NIGERIA STANDARD Group of Newspapers of perfect and effective implementation of the organisation’s budget.

The Chairman, House Committee on Information, Hon. Sylvester Kwarpo, gave the assurance recently when he led members on a familiarisation visit to PPC as part of their oversight functions to media organisations.

The Chairman, who is member representing Mangu-North Constituency, attested to the fact that they were crops of honourable committee members well focused and ready to effect change in the organisation.

“We are going to ensure that we work hand-in-hand to turn around this organisation. We are all aware of the intention of the Plateau State Governor, Barrister Caleb Mutfwang, towards the people of Plateau State.

“His plan is to revamp every sector in the state and bring positive changes so that at the end of his tenure, the people of Plateau should feel the impact of his administration.

“We know that, information is a very powerful tool and it is everything we need in our day-to-day life. When we work hand-in-hand and have a very perfect and genuine budget, ours as legislators is to ensure the effective execution of the budget”, he assured.

Responding, the PPC General Manager, Chris Gyang, disclosed that the organisation had been a shadow of itself over the years because of lack of funding and inadequate staffing and assured the team of his readiness to work with them as a family.

“The last time we had an employment exercise was 20 years ago. Up till today, we have not had an employment exercise. Some staff have left, some retired and some had died in active service,” he disclosed.

Member representing Barkin Ladi ConstituencY, Hon. Dickson Y. Chollom, commended the resilience of the staff who had been making sacrifices for the sustenance of the PPC.

Chollom, who was a staff of PPC, assured them of his readiness to continue to work together with his colleagues in other committees to ensure the lost glory of the organization was brought back.

“We can see that there are rays of hope in the pursuit of what is to be given to PPC.

“I want to say that you should rest assured because our minds are here and we believe in the activities of PPC and information dissemination. I promise as a stakeholder of PPC that I will do what you will be proud of as a true ambassador of PPC,” he assured.
