Chairman commends Lalong’s respect for constitution

THE newly sworn-In Executive Chairman of Bokkos Local Government Council, Hon. Joseph Guluwa, has Commended Governor Lalong of Plateau state for obeying the constitutional provision of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to bring on board elected officials at the third tier of government in the state.

This was contained in a press statement signed by the Head of Information & Protocol

Bokkos Local Government Council, Mr Philip  Atsen, and available to THE NIGERIA STANDARD in Jos, shortly after the oath taking ceremony of Council’s Deputy Chairman and Councillors representing the twenty wards of Bokkos LGA, held at the council’s secretariat.

The Chairman who was visibly elated, showered praises on the Governor for shunning the temptation to abuse the use of power the to constitute Management Caretaker at the third tier, but allowed laid down rules, principles and guidelines and conducted Local Government elections redeeming the image of the state despite some challenges.

He said, with the elected officials in place at the third tier in the state, government was poised to move fast and work in providing dividends of good governance to citizens towards the development of Plateau State and Nigeria at large.

Goluwa, therefore, tasked the newly sworn in councillors to close ranks and support the Executives in their mandate of carrying out the business of making law and other important oversight functions that would make the system work.

While thanking his Excellency, the leader of the Rescue Team, Governor Simon Bako Lalong, for bestowing them to work closely with elected officials across the 17 Local Councils of the State, the Chairman reiterated his administration’s resolve to operate an all inclusive and open door policy.

He, however, promised to ensure the  establishment of prudence, transparency and healthy working environment without molesting or depriving any of its citizen across ethnic, class or religious divide in the area.

Earlier, while administering the oath of office to the Deputy Chairman and councillors, the Chief Magistrate of the area, Hon. Yakubu Garma, admonished them to be faithful to the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and calling on the to serve the people especially at this trying time in the nation.

In his acceptance speech, the Council’s Deputy Chairman, Hon. Dauda Samson Gimba, who spoke on behalf of the sworn-in elected officials, promised to support the Chairman to succeed and affirmed their total loyalty.

Delivering his goodwill message His Royal Highness, the Acting President Bokkos Local Government Traditional Council, Saf. Lawrence Aizat through the District Head of Bokkos, pledged to always support local authorities by give them fatherly advice that would be for the good of the masses at all times.

n another development, the Principal Officers for Bokkos Local Government Legislative Arm have emerged with Hon. Ajaka Agumai Amaju,  representing Toff and Hon. Mador Francis Simon representing Mangor as Leader and Deputy Leader respectively.

Others included, Hon. Shedrack Umaru Longs, representing Horop as the Majority Leader, Hon. Umbule Emmanuel David of Daffo as Deputy Majority Leaders, while Hon. Mahanan Matawal of Bokkos Central emerged as the Chief Whip in that order.
