CHAIRMAN of Jos North Local Government Council Shehu Bala Usman has Inaugurated a 25 man peace and security committee.
This was contained in a press statement signed by SeniorInformationOfficer, made available to THE NIGERIA STANDARD in Jos, the Plateau State capital.
The committee comprises the inhabitants of Hwol, Yarji, Nepa, Yelwa zangam and Bidabidi. Their assignment is to come up with a frame work to restore peace and sanity; reduce to the barest minimum incessant attacks on innocent citizens.
The constitution of the committee followed a stakeholder engagement between leaders of Yarji, Hwol, Nepa, Yelwa Zangam, Bidabidi and other neighboring communities in the area.
Usman stated that the committee will work closely with the Council as well as the various security agencies by engaging youths and commuters of the area to achieve lasting peace, and guarantee unity and security of the people.
He assured citizens of the commitment of his administration to adequately protect the lives of all law abiding citizens of the area and beyond.
The chairman urged the committee to look into all contentious issues bedeviling the various communities and bring out solutions that will restore trust among the inhabitants of the areas.
The Jos North Chairman acknowledged the relentless effort of the various security outfits in tackling the nation’s security challenges. He stressed that all hands must be on deck to effectively fight crimes and criminality.
In his part, Deputy Chairman of Jos North Local Government Council Ezekiel Shina urged the Falanis, Anagutas and Hausas in those separate communities to coexist peacefully and restore trust amongst themselves for the growth and development of the area and the state in general.
All members of the committee inaugurated appreciated the Council for always getting in touch with them and assured of their desire to identify bad eggs among them for the betterment of all.
