ADAMAWA State Executive Council on Wednesday approved a total sum of N140 billion for the 2023 fiscal year during the council’s tenth meeting.

Presided over by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, it says this was in line with the medium term expenditure framework, economic and fiscal update.

According to the Honourable Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Dr. Umar Garba Pella, the budget proposal has N91 billion and N49 billion for the recurrent and capital expenditures representing 65% and 35% respectively.

Describing the budget as realistic, he says government was serious and committed to making sacrifices despite stringent resources by assuring that expenditures are matched with revenues.

The SEC equally approved varmint of over N20 billion representing 3.1% of the initial budget of N163.6 billion for the year 2022.

He adds that after evaluating the entire performance of the 2022 budget, it found that funds were exhausted in certain areas with others having surplus.

In a new development, government has approved the construction of 3.6km bole road extension in Yola South at a cost of N1.9 billion.

According to the Commissioner of Information, a variation of N1.3 billion has been approved for Manpaya road in Uba town in Hong LGA to Triacta Nigeria Ltd and City International Dimension Nigeria Ltd with a time frame of twelve months.

Government according to Umar Pella has equally terminated the contract for the construction of the 39.5 kilometer Maiha – Fulbere – Zhedinya – Mararraba Pella road awarded in 2007.

This follows the failure of the contracting firm A.G. Vision Construction Ltd to execute the project within these conditions in the contract agreement.

Clarifying further, the commissioner said the contract was first reviewed in 2007, 2011 and in 2017 with the contractor having collected N5.5 billion before the third variation.
