In its efforts to restore the lost glory of education in Kogi State, the state government has engaged with critical stakeholders to brainstorm on the effective implementation of education laws and policies.

The Commissioner for Education, Wemi Jones, disclosed this at the stakeholders’ meeting with parents and principals of public secondary schools held recently at Government House, Lokoja.

The stakeholders included the All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS), Parent Teachers Associations (PTAs) and the Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools (ASUSS), among others.

Jones explained that the initiative was driven by the commitment and determination of Governor Ahmed Ododo to give education a pride of place in the state.

“We have to come together to discuss and chart a way forward in line with the thinking of our governor so that we can manage education on a sustainable basis,” he said.

He noted that the immediate past governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, had recorded significant milestones in the education sector, stressing that the present governor was building on that foundation.

The ANCOPPS President, Kogi chapter, Mr. Suberu Omananyi, appreciated the commissioner for the meeting, saying that it was timely and commended the state government for revamping education at all levels through infrastructural and human resources development.
