Alia assures BSUTH of support for quality healthcare delivery

Benue State University Teaching Hospital, Makurdi has been assured of continued needed support even as it will also prioritise the health needs of the people, Governor Hyacinth Alia has said.

Speaking recently during the 100 days in office of the Chief Medical Director, Benue State University Teaching Hospital, Dr. Stephen Hwande, Governor Alia stated that the 100 days of Dr. Hwande in office was a celebration of hard work and commitment.

Represented by his deputy, Barr. Sam Ode, the governor expressed satisfaction with the achievements recorded by the Hwande led management team of the hospital.

Governor Alia noted with joy that he was proud of Dr Hwande and the state Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Dr. Yanmar Ortese, who have continued to work round the clock to achieve a lot within a hundred days.

The governor said if the Chief Medical Director of the hospital could achieve what he had achieved in just one hundred days, what he would achieve in four years would be marvelous and the people would benefit maximally from it.

In his comment, the state Commissioner for Health and Hman Services, Dr. Yanmar Ortese appreciated the governor for appointing the right man for the job, insisting that he would continue to do his best to enable the Chief Medical Director to render quality services to people of the state and beyond.

Also speaking, the Chief Medical Director, Dr. Stephen Hwande, who conducted the governor round the projects executed, disclosed that the one hundred days was to showcase the achievements recorded and promised not to rest on his oars to achieve even more for the Benue people.

Dr. Hwande noted with confidence that with only fifty percent implementation of the budget of the hospital, he would be able to do better. And added that the shortage of manpower, which was the major challenge of the hospital, was being addressed as they were in the process of employing qualified people.

Some of the projects inspected or commissioned include renovated mortuary, perimeter fence to avoid encroachment, doctors’ quarters, lassa fever clinic, water project and its treatment plant and CT Scan among others.
