In fulfilment of his campaign promises to provide dividends of democracy to rural communities, the state government has awarded a contract for the construction of 4 roads linking many communities in Bauchi Local Government Area of the state, worth over nine billion Naira.

During the groundbreaking ceremony to kick start the construction of the roads at BRC Yelwa, Governor Bala Mohammed said his prioritisation of road construction and rehabilitation across the state, is a response to calls by various communities during his election campaigns, by communities that have suffered neglect over the years.

Our correspondent who covered the ceremony recently, reports that the targeted roads are 4.1km Sabon kaura-Birshi-BRC, 6km Zango-Gwallagan Mayaka-Dandango, 1.1km Bayara township road and 2.6km Gwallameji-Rafin zurfi-Yolan Bayara Road.

Governor Bala Mohammed, further explained that the objective is to open up the axis for community demographic development as well as to decongest the Bauchi metropolis and urbanisation.

Worried over the security situation in the outskirts of the Bauchi metropolis, the governor attributed the trend to bad eggs, strangers who are visiting the state from neighbouring states.

Bala Mohammed, used the opportunity to once again warn traditional rulers as well as community leaders to stand firm on the protection of their environment and report any suspicious activity to the authority.

He however, commended the communities for living in peace with one another despite the complexity of religion and tribal differences.

In a goodwill message, the state chairman, PDP Elders Forum, Alhaji Garba Muhammad Noma, commended the governor for his development initiatives in the state. He further appealed and advised him to consider the resuscitating the state dilapidated Industries and other state owned companies for job creation and economic development of the state.
