Bauchi Governor sets up palliative distribution committee

Following the Federal Government approval of #5 billion palliative to each state of the federation to cushion the effect of the removal of subsidy from fuel, Governor Bala Mohammed, who collected on behalf of Bauchi State citizens, has constituted a high powered committee to work out modalities for effective and judicious distribution of the palliative.
He assured the people of the state that their share will soon get to them.

Governor Mohammed gave the assurance on Monday shortly after the inaugural meeting he held behind closed doors with relevant stakeholders at the Government House, Bauchi.

Our correspondent in Bauchi reports that those in attendance at the meeting and form part of the committee include: Ministry of Youths and Sports Development, Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs and organized labour in the state as well as religious and traditional leaders.

According to Governor Mohammed, his administration will be just and fair in the distribution exercise, adding that everyone will be carried along in enjoying the palliative.

He urged the people of the state to support his administration in its quest to uplift the standard of living of the people. And added that the government will continue to execute laudable projects that have a direct bearing on the lives of the people.

“The palliative measure is about the people because they are really suffering. So, the best way is to carry everybody along devoid of any political difference or sentiment. I assure you that the palliative measure will reach every nook and cranny of the state” the governor re-assured.

He explained that the issues of workers’ retirement benefits, procurement of buses,
motorcycles and trycicles to ease transportation challenges are also part of the palliative exercise.

While announcing his Deputy, Hon. Mohammad Auwal Jatau as the chairman of the palliative exercise committee, Governor Bala Mohammed, charged them to ensure fairness, transparency and accountability in the entire process.

According to the governor, the committee was given two weeks from today to commence distribution of the palliative to all angles of the state.
