Bauchi Governor vows to promote cultural education

As Jalam Community in Dambam Local Government Area of Bauchi State celebrated its 2024 Annual Bala Baraa ma Jalam Cultural Festival recently, which was held at Jalam town, of Dambam LGCGovernor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, said his administration is committed to investing in initiatives that would promote cultural education and awareness.

Governor Bala Mohammed who was represented at the occasion by his Deputy, Rt. Hon. Auwal Jatau, expressed the belief that imparting the knowledge of cultural heritage to the younger generation can ensure its continuity and preservation for generations to come.

The state Chief Executive, while expressing his excitement to the people of Jalam for organizing such a fascinating gathering, assured that his administration would continue to support and promote the development of cultural festivities in the state including the Bala Baraa ma Jalam Cultural Festival. He pointed out that the government recognises the significance of such events in preserving cultural heritage and showcasing it to the world.

The governor commended the initiators of Bala Baraa ma Jalam Cultural Festival which has become a significant event that puts Bauchi State on the map, attracting visitors from Nigeria and beyond.

According to him, “This annual celebration of Bala Baraa ma Jalam Cultural Festival, reminds us of the rich tapestry of tradition that bind us together as a people. The Festival is a highly celebrated cultural event that takes place annually in this area and has been in existence for many years with continued significant cultural activities that attract tourists and locals alike.

“Historically, the festival is named after two famous hunters from the area – Bala Baraa and Jalam – who were known for their bravery and hunting skills. The festival aims at preserving and promoting the cultural heritage of the Jalam community and at the same time, celebrating the unique talents, skills, and creativity of its people.”

Governor Bala Mohammed, therefore congratulated the people of Dambam Local Government for celebrating the 2024 Bala Baraa ma Jalam Cultural Festival successfully. He urged them to join hands in building a future that honors and values their cultural heritage, while embracing the advancements and opportunities that lie ahead.

In a vote of thanks, the Caretaker Committee Chairman of Dambam Local Government Area, Ahmed Mohamed Danbam, expressed gratitude to Governor Bala Mohammed, that despite his numerous national and state engagements, he created time to grace this historic occasion and also for the number of people oriented projects executed by his administration in the local government.

He assured the governor of his total support and loyalty to his purposeful administration focused on building the state in line with the dreams of the founding fathers of the state.
