The newly elected President of Bwarat Community and Cultural Development Association (BCDCA), Prince Ponfa Audu Wuyep, has promised to promote unity among his people towards the development of the community, the local government, Plateau State and Nigeria at large.

He made the pledge recently while delivering his acceptance speech on the occasion of his inauguration/swearing-in as well as handing over ceremony, held at the District Office Reak-Bwarat in Langtang-North Local Government Area of the state.

The President said, “Our focus shall be geared towards the mobilization of various clans/communities within Bwarat land to come together and make progress in our developmental endeavors. In this wise, we intend to bring together branch chairmen, women, the youth and leadership of the various clans to a regular meeting as provided for the constitution to share ideas and suggestions on the way forward.

“We shall equally encourage BWAYA to partner BCDCA in consultation with Ponzhi to institute an Annual Ponzhi Bwarat Unity Cup Competition within our land. This will further strengthen our unity. We intend to institutionalize a stakeholder meeting, drawing membership of our people from all the clans/branches within and outside Bwarat land.

The stakeholders shall meet once in a year and there will be emergency meetings as the need arises. The purpose shall be to harness our human and material resources together for the development of our people. Right away, I wish to inform this august gathering that God helping us, we shall hold our maiden stakeholders meeting on 26th December 2022”, he disclosed.

According to Wuyep, “We will in consultation with Ponzhi Bwarat and Bwarat Traditional Council resuscitate the Bwarat Elders Council which is an advisory body to support both the Traditional Council and BCDCA Exco in her activities. We shall actively participate in the programmes and activities of Ngwang Ishi Otarok (NIO) for the greater benefit of Bwarat.

“Similarly, we shall extend our hands of fellowship and work hand in hand with the Bwarat Traditional Council under the leadership of Ponzhi Bwarat, collaborate with similar bodies as ours including Gani Community Development Association, (GCDA), Gazum Cultural Educational Social and Development Organization (GACESDO), Nimbar Community Development Association, Tarok Progressive Youth Association (TAPYA), Tarok Women, TAROSA, Tarok Professionals, etc. Beyond these native organizations, we shall source for NGOs to give support for the benefit of Bwarat land”, the president assured.
