CBN clears air over Covid-19 funds

THE secretariat of the African Union (AU), the African Union Commission (AUC), has deny reports that it  has endorsed any candidate for post of Director General of the World Trade Organization (WTO).

The commission in a statement said although it made concerted efforts towards the endorsement one single African candidate for the post of WHO Director General it did not succeed in backing any candidate from the continent for the job.

The statement explained that a meeting of ministerial committee has made efforts by planning a meeting even three times to deliberate on it but the meeting failed.

“As of present therefore, there is no African Union endorsed candidate for the  post”.

the commission’s statement is coming on the heel of speculations in recent days that Kenya’s candidate to the World Trade Organization Director General Amina Mohammed, may have received the endorsement of the AU Secretariate.
