Commissioner assures PLASCOFED of support

Permanent Secretary(PS), Ministry of Commerce and Industry Plateau State, Mr.Felix Kopsuk has assured the leadership of Plateau State Cooperative Federation Limited (PLASCOFED) of his support in all their programmes.

Kopsuk made the promise while declaring a two day leadership workshop organised by PLASCOFED open. The workshop was tagged :”Financial Management for Sustainable Cooperative Society Growth” held at the Nigerian Institute of Mining and Geoscience Hall in Jos, recently.

He added that the only way cooperative societies would grow and be sustainable is by constant training of leaders with the knowledge needed.

He urged participants during the workshop to use the opportunity of the programme to equip themselves with new ideas in order to better their societies.

In a welcome speech by the PLASCOFED President, Mrs.Hannatu Mershak, who was represented by Mr. Nimmyel Timloh, the Publicity Officer of PLASCOFED, she said that one of the core values of the body is to educate both leaders and members of the primary societies with the knowledge that will equip them in moving their societies to greater heights.

He encouraged participants to have an open mind as they cross fertilise ideas with others in sustaining their primary societies.

The resource person, Elder Daniel Usman, Managing Consultant, Sandstone Associates Limited in a paper presented with the theme of the workshop, stressed that finance is the lifewire of every organisation. And this revolves around utilizing and creating finance for optimal performance.
He said that effective and efficient financial management is imperative in ensuring cooperative societies business sustainability and growth.

Usman maintained that financial management is a process that involves organising, controlling and managing funds effectively and efficiently.

THE NIGERIA STANDARD reports that the workshop was well attended by leaders of primary cooperative societies in the state and participants actively took part in the discussion sessions.
