Families of deceased police officers get welfare package

The Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Police Command, CP Akeem A. Yusuf on Thursday, presented N15,994,711.28 cheques to the families of 28 police officers who died in active service.
The Commissioner of Police who was represented by his Deputy in-charge of Administration: DCP Abel A. Audu made the presentation on behalf of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, at the Command’s headquarters, Lokoja on Thursday.
The gesture according to the Police boss is part of the “Group Life Assurance Scheme” and IGP’s “Family welfare Insurance” aimed at improving the welfare of the families of the deceased police officers and also encouraging other officers who are in active service.
The Commissioner said that cheques were presented to the next of kin of the deceased officers in Lokoja and sympathized with the families over their loss.
He urged the beneficiaries not to misuse the money but make judicious use of the money for the betterment of their families.
The beneficiaries appreciated the IGP for the gesture and promised to make use of the money for the benefit of their families.
