FG boosts Nigeria Army capability with attack helicopters

The Federal Government of Nigeria in support of the operationalization of Nigerian Army Aviation has approved the acquisition of the initial 12 MD 530F Cayuse Attack Helicopters that will actualise the operationalization of the Nigerian Army (NA) Aviation to effectively tackle security challenges bedevilling the country.

In a statement issued by Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, Director Army Public Relations recently, it revealed that the acquisition of the new attack helicopters is part of ongoing efforts by the Federal Government to boost the operational capabilities of Army Aviation to appropriately respond to the security challenges in Nigeria. The MD 530F Cayuse Attack Helicopters are known for their versatility and ability to carry out various combat missions.

The operationalization of the Nigerian Army Aviation is considered crucial in enhancing the Army’s effectiveness in combating insurgency, terrorism, and other security threats across the country. With the acquisition of these attack helicopters, the Nigerian Army will have the capability to conduct aerial surveillance, provide close air support, and engage in offensive operations against the enemies.
