Flood wrecks havoc in Lugbe, Abuja

NO fewer than four persons were feared death as flood wreaked havoc at Trademore Estate in Lugbe area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja.

Also, a total of 166 Houses and 26 vehicles were destroyed by the flood. This is as a result of a down pour which occurred all through the night of last week.

Some residents of the Estate who spoke to our reporter said this is the first of its kind since the beginning of this raining season and appealed to authority of the Federal Capital Territory to come to their aid.

According to them cars, houses and other items were carted away by the flood apart from the deaths recorded, stressings that the flood was caused by an Estate Promoter who channelled its water towards that side.

Confirming the incident, the acting Director, Federal Capital Territory Emergency Management Agency Mrs Florence Wenegiem said four persons died in the incident.

The General Manager, FCT Emergency Management Agency. Abbas Idris in a press statement confirmed that 166 houses and 26 vehicles were destroyed by the flood.
