FRSC commended for reducing accidents in Plateau State

Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has commended the Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC for the role played over the years in reducing the number of road accidents and curtailing the excesses of road users in the state.

The governor gave the accolade when the Plateau State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission, Corps Commander, Godwin Alphonsus paid him a visit at the Old Government House, Rayfield in Jos, recently.

Represented by his Deputy, Mrs Josephine Piyo, Mutfwang maintained that without the FRCS, having to be on the road, “there would have been no sanity on our roads.”

The governor emphasised that the services being rendered by the FRSC to the public could not be overemphasized as this has helped in reducing road crashes to the barest minimum. He pledged his readiness to partner with FRSC for effective performance.

The Sector Commander, Plateau State Command, Godwin Alphonsus had said FRSC has a huge representation in the state and that their mandate is to among others, prevent and minimize road crashes, educate drivers and the public on the proper use of the road as well as designing of driving license.

The Sector Commander disclosed that the Command has seven Units Commands in the state and also Headquarters in Abuja.

Adding that the Sector Command has four ambulances stationed in different locations in the state to attend to emergencies, in addition to clinics which provide medical services to accident victims.

He said the Command has constituted a council to be headed by the State Deputy Governor as the Chairman with the Sector Commander as Secretary. And noted that the Command would continue to contribute its quota to the peace efforts in the state.

Meantime, Governor Caleb Mutfwang has described the Nursing Profession as a noble profession that is committed to the healthcare of Nigerians.The governor stated this when the Fellowship of Christian Nurses of Nigeria led by their National President, Abalis Dasat paid a solidarity visit at Old Government, House, Rayfield, Jos, recently.

Governor Mutfwang who was represented by his Deputy, Mrs Josephine Piyo said he holds the Nursing profession in high esteem and assured of government’s commitment to revamp the health sector for the benefit of the citizens of the state.

Piyo who is also a nurse by profession, however, assured them that as an ambassador, she would not disappoint them and promised to convey their request concerning the construction of an access road leading to their office in Jos South Local Government Area to the governor.

Earlier, the National President said as a professional fellowship, they were committed to representing Christ by caring for the sick and reaching them with the gospel even at the point of death.
