GOC pledges support to NAOWA

The General Officer Commanding, (GOC) 6 Division Nigerian Army/ Land Component Commander Joint Task Force (South – South) Operation Delta Safe, Major General Jamal Abdussalam has pledged the support of the Division to the Nigerian Army Officers Wives Association (NAOWA) 6 Division Chapter to enable it to succeed. The GOC made the pledge when the Chairperson of the NAOWA Chapter led members of her executive on a courtesy call on the GOC.

A statement by Iwwha Ikedichi Lieutenant Colonel Ag Deputy Director Army Public Relations 6 Division Nigerian Army, stated that the GOC while appreciating the Chairperson for the visit stated that he was poised to bring about improvement in the living condition of the barracks community; hence would partner with NAOWA whose objectives revolve around the improvement of the wellbeing of the barracks community.

He equally directed the assessment of the NAOWA school within the cantonment with a view to improving the quality of manpower, infrastructure, and other educational aids facilities within the school.

Earlier, the Chairperson of the Division’s chapter of NAOWA, Mrs. Maryam Abdussalam, congratulated the GOC on his appointment as the 10th General Officer Commanding. She solicited the assistance of the GOC at improving facilities at the NAOWA school and the possible establishment of a NAOWA college in Port Harcourt Barracks.

Mrs. Maryam Abdussalam further stated that she intends to resuscitate the NAOWA school with qualitative, attentive, and caring teachers. This, she stated is in line with the vision of the National President of NAOWA, Mrs Salamatu F. Yahaya to enhance the quality of education in the barracks.

She equally indicated her plan to create the appropriate curriculum that will aid learning in a serene environment, which would give parents the confidence to have their children in the school.

The NAOWA chairperson was accompanied on the visit by members of her executive. The visit was concluded with the presentation of souvenir and group photograph.
