Governor- elect vows to strengthen capacity of lawmakers

The Plateau State Governor- elect, Bar. Caleb Mutfwang has pledged to equip the state legislative arm of government to facilitate training to give them all the exposure needed for law making in the state.

He disclosed this on Friday when the team of PDP delegation of the state legislators paid him a courtesy visit to felicitate with him over his victory at the poll in JD Jang Lodge, Government House, Rayfield, Jos.

Barr. Caleb assured the legislators even as they prepare for May 29 swearing-in. He assured them that the state House of Assembly will be active under his administration.

“Legislative business is not going to be business as usual.  We will disturb the House because we have many things that need to be reformed.”

He added that the law governing the GMDP before is 1974 Law. He said one of the Organization we are going to activate is GMDP, there will be a lot of work for you to carry out.

He therefore encouraged the candidates who contested and lost to keep faith alive, while the executive will sit after the swearing-in to look for a way to accommodate those who loss out.

Earlier, the leader of the state Assembly delegates, Timothy Dandong pledged their support to the Governor-elect to work together as one for the success of the state.

He congratulated the Governor-elect over his victory and the role he played to achieve the success that they have achieved at the poll. “With this victory, the fortune of Plateau will take a new turn for good”, he said.
