I will prioritise workers’ welfare till I exit- Lalong

Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State says he will continue to prioritize workers’ welfare till the end of his tenure.

Lalong stated this while declaring open the 13th Quadrennial Delegates Conference of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, holding at the Crispan Hotel, Jos.

The 13th Quadrennial Delegates Conference of the NLC is being held simulteneously across the 36 states of the federation and Abuja to elect leaders at the state level and to also discuss other important matters affecting the body.

Governor Lalong who was represented by his deputy, Professor Sonni Tyoden, commended the state NLC for the cordial working relationship, noting that government has done its best towards workers’ welfare through- out his administration.

He urged the NLC to engage candidates in the forthcoming Governorship and the State Assembly Elections for the overall development of the state.

The governor appealed to NLC to always make concrete demands to government and called on delegates to elect credible leaders who would run the affairs of the union in the next dispensation.

National President, NLC, Joe Ajaero represented by the Vice President, Benjamin Anthony, appreciated the outgoing leadership for working together to protect the interests and welfare of workers. He pointed out that NLC will continue to stand against any anti-people policy by government.

Earlier while welcoming delegates to the conference, Plateau State Chairman, NLC, Eugene Manji, appreciated Governor Lalong for the prompt payment of workers’ salaries, assuring him that they will continue to make efforts aimed at making life better for workers in the state.

Plateau State Head of Civil Service, Sunday Hyat also appreciated the good working relationship between government and NLC in the state and wished them a successful election.
