Lawmakers, IGP attend security meeting at Mangu

Hon. (Dr.) Bala Ndat Fwangje, member representing Mangu South State Constituency and Chief Whip of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Hon. Ishaya David Lalu, Member representing Mangu/Bokkos Federal Constituency and Hon. Sani Golden Shilak, Member Mangu North-East State Constituency in the PLHA attended a security meeting with the acting Inspector General of Police at the Mishkaham Mwaghavul’s Palace in Mangu.

A statement by his media team noted that Hon. Bala, Hon. Lalu and Sani who are described by many as young and vibrant set of legislators were at the meeting as part of their efforts in bringing lasting peace in Mangu LGA.

While addressing the stakeholders, the acting IGP reiterated the need for inhabitants of Mangu LGA to embrace peace and be law abiding as his visit to the state was to assess the situation and see things for himself.

Speaking during the meeting, the Mishkaham Mwaghavul, Da John Hirse, thanked the IGP for the visit, noting that it has restored hope in his people. The paramount ruler urged the IGP to send in more men to the LGA to man border villages affected by the attacks to enable his subjects return to their ancestral lands.

Stakeholders at the meeting were TIC Chairman, Markus Artu, some DIGs, Commissioner of Police Plateau State, representatives of MDA, JNI and CAN among others.

Earlier, Hon. Fwangje, Hon. Lalu and Hon. Golden were at the Mishkaham Mwaghavul’s palace to commiserate with Mangu Traditional Council on the unfortunate incident of breach of security.

Speaking on behalf of the legislators, Hon. Ishaya David Lalu told members of the traditional council that their mission was to commiserate with the royal fathers on the lost of lives and property incurred during the attacks. He prayed to God to avert a reoccurrence.
