Mutfwang set for collaboration with French Embassy

The Executive Governor of Plateau State, Barrister Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang has reassured the French Ambassador to Nigeria, Mrs Emmanuelle Blatmann of collaboration between the state and the French Republic in enhancing educational development, agriculture and solid minerals sector.

This, he said would generate employment opportunities for the youths in the state.

Governor Mutfwang who made this known recently during a courtesy call by Mrs Blatmann and her delegation to the New Government House , Little Rayfield, Jos, emphasised the state’s commitment to fostering a productive partnership with the French Republic for the benefit of Nigerian citizens.

He noted with delight, some of the ongoing projects initiated by the French Embassy in Plateau State, particularly in the fields of education, agriculture, and mining and alluded that they were aimed at revitalising the state and ensuring quality education, food security and creating employment opportunities.

The governor acknowledged the global importance of the French language for international transactions and announced plans to accelerate the growth of the center of Alliance Francaise, in which he said has been serving for the past 20 years in area of education.

Mutfwang reassured the ambassador of his administration’s commitment to providing the necessary counterpart funding to expedite the pace of development in the state.

” We see potential collaboration opportunities in environmental and scientific fields as well. Rest assured, we are committed to strengthening our relationship with the French government and we eagerly anticipate a more robust partnership in the coming months and years “, he emphasised.

Earlier, the French Ambassador in Nigeria, Emmanuelle Blatmann said she was visiting the state for the first time and appreciated the scenic landscape and weather of Jos.

Mrs Blatmann who spoke extensively on areas of collaboration, said they had supported the University of Jos, National Film Institute as well as the National Veterinary Research Institute (NVRI), Vom and promised to do more in that regard.

On the area of agriculture, the ambassador noted that they had pumped in a lot in support of the Potato Value Chain and the RAM. He appreciated the governor for supporting these initiatives by releasing the counterpart fund so that the state would receive more development in different fields.
