NEMA seeks collaboration to address disaster

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), has called for collective efforts to reduce the impact of disasters, especially on vulnerable communities. Director General of the agency, Mustapher Ahmed stated this recently, at the opening of a technical workshop on United Nations Disaster Risk Reduction Monitoring and Reporting of the Sendai Framework 2015_2030 held in Abuja. He said, stakeholders must recognise that the diverse needs and vulnerabilities of our people and communities are crucial for the overall stability and sustainability of Nigeria.

The NEMA boss called for the sustainability of the tempo of driving the monitoring and reporting of disaster risk management activities on the UN Sendai Framework monitor with a vision to achieve the lead country in West Africa sub_region and Pan Africa as a whole. He emphasised that collective efforts can make a difference in reducing the impact of disasters, protecting vulnerable communities, and fostering risk- informed sustainable development.
