NGO tasks Taraba youths on embracing dialogue

A non-governmental organisation, the Foundation for Peace, Hope and Conflict Management, has charged youths in tertiary Institutions to embrace dialogue in order to bring about lasting peace in the society.

The Foundation believes that if youths are educated on peace building, they will serve as agents of social change in their respective communities.

The Executive Director, Foundation for Peace, Hope and Conflict Management, Rev. Fr. (Prof) Anthony Bature made the call while declaring open a two day workshop on promoting peace through dialogue among youths at the Federal University Wukari, Taraba State.

The Foundation for Peace, Hope and Conflict Management Nigeria is a non~governmental organisation (NGO) that has been in the forefront of promoting peace among different tribes, communities and religions since 2019.

According to Prof. Bature, becoming educated alone is not enough, but to be educated and live peacefully in a community is the best form of education.

Delivering a paper on critical analysis of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanism and its effectiveness among the youths in tertiary Institutions, Dr Raymond Enoch, the publisher of Paradigm Communications, advocated for the establishment of an Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) desk across the tertiary institutions in Nigeria.

Some students who participated in the workshop stressed that they were educated about peaceful living with one another and pledged to be peace ambassadors even after graduation.

Highlights of the workshop was the formation of a Peace Club at the Federal University Wukari and the presentation of certificates to the participants.
