Niger Governor- elect poised to move Madalla Market

The Madalla Market situated along the Zuba – Kaduna Road near Zuma Rock in Suleja Local Government of Niger State will soon be moved because it has consistently endangered lives and properties of citizens, the Governor- elect of Niger state,  Honourable Umar Mohammed Bago has said.

Bago stated this during congratulatory visit by members of the Correspondents Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ Niger State Council, held at Presidential Lodge in Minna recently.

He said, “you are welcomed to a new Niger State. I want to thank you the media for doing your best in your support.  I want to assure you that we will partner with the Correspondents Chapel”.

He explained that his administration will operate open door policy, adding that, “we would welcome constructive criticism. Our doors would be open to all, so please keep us abreast of issues and happenings in the state. Do not be judgmental but also listen to us”.

Speaking on the imperative of moving Madalla Market from the present site, the Governor- elect explained that it has constituted a lot of danger and hazard to residents of the city and motorists plying the Kaduna – Abuja Road.

He said, ” the media especially the Correspondents Chapel of NUJ will come with us the day we will move the market.  We will however not impede on fundamental human rights during the exercise “.

Speaking earlier, the Chairman of Correspondents Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ, Niger State Council, Comrade Mustapha Bina said the Chapel is ready to partner with the new administration for the development of the state.

While congratulating the Governor- elect for the well-deserved victory, Comrade Binna assured of objective reportage of government activities. He added that, “we are ready to work in partnership with you in ensuring the peace and rapid development of the state “.
