The Nigerian Navy has issued a warning regarding a fraudulent online advertisement for the 2023/2024 Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC) enlistment exercise.

The naval headquarters discovered a misleading publication claiming that the Nigerian Navy DSSC Recruitment 2023 portal was open for online applications. The perpetrators directed interested individuals to visit a fake website, topnigerianjobs.com, which featured false information and guidelines for the recruitment process.

In a statement signed by Commodore AO Ayo-Vaughan, Director of Information and issued to press men in Abuja, the Nigerian Navy clarified that no DSSC enlistment exercise has been announced, emphasizing that the service did not conduct any form of enlistment for officers.

This clarification aims to prevent unsuspecting individuals from falling victims to the fraudulent scheme. The navy urged the public to rely only on the official website, www.nigeriannavy.mil.ng, and other credible platforms for accurate information.

Criminals behind the fake advertisement had also falsely claimed that the opening and closing dates for the recruitment exercise would be communicated to applicants. The Nigerian Navy emphasized that when the time comes, it will provide the necessary details and phases of the exercise through its official channels. This will include the official website and credible mainstream media outlets.

Members of the public, especially potential applicants, are strongly advised to verify information exclusively from the official Nigerian Navy website and official social media accounts to avoid falling prey to fraudsters.

The Nigerian Navy has attached copies of the fake advertisement publication from the fraudulent website and urges the public to disseminate this warning widely to prevent further scams.
