PLASU: Miri-led panel enters day-2 public interaction with stakeholders

In continuation of its interaction with stakeholders in and around the University community, Professor Angela Miri-led seven- man panel to Plateau State University, Bokkos, has entered day-2 interaction with those who submitted memos before it.
This came in a press statement signed by the university’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), John K. Agam, and made available to SUNDAY STANDARD in Jos, the Plateau State capital recently, shortly after the interaction session involving stakeholders from the host communities, staff and students’ unions.

The Chairman of the Visitation Panel, Professor Angela Miri, reiterated on the fact that the panel was not constituted to witch hunt, but was on a fact finding mission to ascertain the level of problems affecting the optimum academic and physical development of the university.

She said, the mission was with a view to give informed recommendations to government for possible intervention as it was customary to engage both the internal and external stakeholders to give them a sense of belonging to make their contributions to the growth and development of the institution, based on the terms of reference given to the Panel for the period between May 2015 to May 2023.

Prof. Miri, however, thanked the stakeholders for identifying with the state government in responding to the invitation and making valuable submissions to the panel. She assured the people that the Mutfwang led government was determined to reposition education at all levels in the state.

Meanwhile, the Secretary to the Panel, Julius Shinkur who was directed to read the terms of reference to the hearing of all stakeholders, said, “the Panel draws its strength from the power vested in the Visitor, His Excellency, the Executive Governor, in Section 16, subsections (1) and (2) of the Law establishing the university.
