THE Vice Chancellor of Plateau State University Bokkos (PLASU), Professor Bernard Malau Matur has disclosed that the university is set to partner the Theological College of Education, Bukuru, in the areas of staff development and linkages that would enhance growth to overcome funding challenges.

This came in a press statement signed by the university’s Public Relations Officer, PRO, John K. Agam, and made available to THE NIGERIA STANDARD in Jos, the Plateau State capital recently, shortly after the Vice Chancellor played host to the management of the college in his office.

According to Professor Matur, “Plateau State University Bokkos, will remain a home to all Tertiary Institutions, more so that faith based educational institutions have continued to contribute to the moral and spiritual well-being of the youth.

“I hope that the Theological College of Education Bukuru will grow and transform into a faith based University of Education that will help in molding young Nigerians in knowledge and character for the development of not only Plateau State, but Nigeria and the world over”, he assured.

While promising to operate an open door policy that would be mutually beneficial to the college and Plateau State University, Professor Matur, said, knowledge sharing remains a pre-requisite for the development of the state.

Speaking earlier, the Deputy Provost of the Theological College of Education Bukuru, Mrs Tanphena Obed Dashan, said, they were in the university to congratulate Professor Matur, on his appointment and to also solicit for the Vice Chancellor’s support which had been cultivated when he was the Commissioner for Higher Education.

She said, “a common ground can be reached between the college and Plateau State University and we promise to continue to pray for more wisdom, knowledge and understanding for the Vice Chancellor to provide quantitative leadership that will make the university stand out.

“As a faith based institution, the College believes in producing quality teachers that would impact and transform the society positively through the molding of both the mind and the soul for National Development.

“Although, the college got the approval of the National Commission for Colleges of Education barely two years ago and it has been working hard for the growth and expansion of its programmes to help meet up with the academic standard of other colleges, hence our outreach to institutions like PLASU”, Dashan enthused.
