Plateau ACReSAL opens 19 bidders

PLATEAU State Agro-Climatic Rehabilitation in Semi-Arid Landscape Project (ACReSAL) has opened nineteen (19) out of twenty-four (24) purchased bid documents for the reconstruction/rehabilitation of Plateau Club, Bingham University Gully Erosion Site in Jos.

This occasion took place recently, at the conference hall of the Plateau State ACReSAL Jos, the State capital where bidders from different companies, Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) and State Steering Committee (SSC) as well as representatives of the host communities witnessed the occasion.

Delivering his opening remarks, the Plateau State Project Coordinator of ACReSAL, Mr. Garba Gowon Gonkol, thanked Governor Caleb Mutfwang, for the show of interest to have funded the invitation of the project and promised to give all bidders a transparent opportunity because credibility was their target.

He disclosed that the agency has constituted an Evaluation Committee that would look into all documents diligently and transparently and ensure that credible and qualified bidders emerged so that the contract would be carried out according to the specification.

On his part, the Permanent Secretary, Plateau State Ministry for Environment and Minerals Development, Albert Chaimang, encouraged the bidders to accept whatever was the outcome because in every game, there must be a winner and a loser and out of all of them, only one of them would emerge winner.

Also, the State Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Hon. Noel Nkup, described the process as transparent and a demonstration of due process. He urged whoever wins to carry – out a quality job according to the contract specification so that the benefiting communities would have every reason to celebrate.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner for Environment and Minerals Development, Hon. Peter Kanang Gwom, who is also the Chairman of the State Steering Committee (SSC), said the opening of this bid was his first contract to carry out as a Commissioner and he would ensure that he sees to the best and quality completion of the contract.

However, the Chairman of the Plateau Club, Bingham University Gully Erosion Site, the benefiting community, Arc. Ibrahim Kamndu, thanked God and the Plateau State Government for working hard to see that their community was considered for this project and ensuring that the project came to fruition. He promised to give the contractor the needed cooperation.
