PLATEAU State chapter of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) is set to kick start its campaign to the seventeen (17) local government areas of the state. They are starting from Tuesday January 10 with the state gubernatorial candidate, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang, as the captain of the campaign.

The gubernatorial candidate who was on a courtesy  visit to the state  headquarters of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Jos, disclosed this while speaking to the gentlemen of the press ahead of the campaign.

He said they were in NUJ Secretariat to intimate members of the press of their plans to kick start campaign in the 17 local government areas of the state through the three senatorial zones. The goal is for them to market their candidates.

Mutfwang solicited for the Journalists help in reporting their activities.

When elected, Mutfwang, promises to create a new relationship that would see journalists as partners in the development of Plateau State and not the other way round.

“We are not coming for tea party, but to deliver a credible leadership through human management and will have a structured security system that will bring back our “Home of Peace and Tourism”, the gubernatorial hopeful stated.

“We will attract investors and make Plateau the best state in Nigeria in the area of investment and infrastructural development so that we will boost the economy of Plateau.

“ We call on Plateau people to trust in us and we assure you that we are competent and credible from the presidential candidate down to the state because Atiku is an experienced leader”, he assured.

The candidate however, described the Plateau NUJ as the breeding ground for the nationally recognized journalists with the likes of Mr. Jonathan Ishaku, Dan Igbese. He appealed that they would be glad if the journalists on the Plateau would honour their invitation when the need arises.

Responding on behalf of the journalists on the Plateau, the State Chairman of NUJ, Mr. Paul Jatau, welcomed the team. He assured them that as journalists, they do not play politics as the profession demands objectivity, fairness and truth.

Jatau promised to focus on the Plateau project and would ensure strict professionalism in their reportage. And prayed that the forthcoming elections would be peaceful.
