The former Commissioner for Environment, Mineral Resources, Science and Technology in Anambra State, who is currently the Head of Intervention Team in the Peter Obi Presidential Campaign Organization, Dr. Ifedi Okwenna, has enjoined judges in judiciary arm of the government to do the needful, by exercising their independence to ensure that they return the country on the path of progress.

In a press statement he issued to some selected media houses recently in Abuja, Okwenna said: “I am telling the judges that we are all buying from the same market and if the economy is good, it is for all of us. They should do the needful as an independent arm of the government to restore Nigeria on the path of progress. From his past experience, you assured Nigerians that my principal, Obi will reclaim his mandate.”

Still urging the judiciary to live up to expectations, he said that Nigerians are worried that INEC chairman is telling them to go to court. Adding: “if he is telling us to go to courts, he deliberately did things wrong, it means his sister or brother is the judge.”

Speaking on the fact that Nigerians know what Peter Obi stands for, he said “We campaigned throughout the 36 States and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), convinced Nigerians on what Peter Obi stands for and we told them what we have in store for them. We are happy every Nigerian knew what happened. The intervention team went to all nooks and crannies of Nigeria, including Borno where people fear to go. We were convinced that no one would conspire against Obi.”

He continued: “During the Presidential and National Assembly election, Nigerians came out en-mass and voted for who they wanted to be their president and Obi won the election and there is no doubt about that. Everywhere throughout the country Nigerians came out and voted for Peter. But INEC truncated the wish of Nigerians.  Not only did they suppress the wished of Nigeria the opportunity to have the president they wanted. We have gone to court; we are going to recover our stolen mandate. We can’t suffer for nothing.
