SOSG inaugurates Transition Committee

Following the victory APC recorded at the just concluded 2023 Sokoto State governorship election, the Governor- elect, Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto, approved composition and inauguration of a committee for easy take- over of power by May 29, 2023, made up of over 108 members, first of such figure in the state.

The Governor- elect in his inaugural speech said the task before the transition committee is leveraged on the broad composition of 108 members with diverse experience and pedigree and directed them to ensure timely accomplishment of the responsibilities before them.

He pointed out that with the four terms of reference outlined in their letter of appointment, they are expected to develop a clean framework for liaison with the outgoing administration for the purpose of smooth takeover.

In addition, the governor said, it is expected of them to carryout detailed analysis, review and provide preliminary assessment of the handing over reports they may receive from the outgoing administration.

The incoming Governor- elect, Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto advised them to draw inference and recommendations from the received handover reports as well as to highlight the most urgent and critical issues that may be confronting the incoming APC Sokoto State government.

Aliyu further stressed that the committee is aimed at obtaining facts that are necessary to develop a framework that will enable a great and easy start by the incoming administration.

On a serious note, he stated that the committee is expected to prepare a roadmap for implementing the manifesto for incoming government based on the collated campaign promises to be achieved on the short, medium and long term of the administration.

In his address at the ceremony, APC Chairman in the state, Isah Sadiq Achida in his welcome address acknowledged the contributions of electorate towards the success of all the 2023 elections and assured them that their contributions will be rewarded accordingly as it’s only an ingrate that forgets contributions made to him in time of need.
