Taraba gets new Chief Judge

Justice Joel Philibus Agya has been sworn- in as Acting Chief Judge of Taraba State.

Also, Justice Alfred Yakubu has been sworn- in as Acting President of the Customary Court of Appeal.

The ceremony which was presided by Governor Darius Ishaku, took place at the Executive Chamber, Government House Jalingo.

Speaking during the occasion, Governor Darius Ishaku said there was need to fill the vacuum created in governance which necessitated their swearing- in.

He advised the judges to fear God and uphold justice in the discharge of their responsibility to the people.

The governor also charged them to brace up for the challenges ahead and respect the oath they have taken.

In his remarks, the Acting Chief Judge Joel Philibus Agya, thanked Governor Darius Ishaku for finding them worthy for the appointment.

The Acting Chief Judge said the Judiciary protects, ensures the rule of law, settles disputes as well as punishes offenders.

He promised to abide by the oath they have taken and assured people of the state that under his watch the common man would have access to justice.

Justice Nuhu Adi administered the Judicial oath of office to the Acting Chief Judge, Philibus Agya and the Acting President of the Customary Court of Appeal, Alfred Yakubu.
