AHEAD of the 2023 National Convention of Nakam Old Students Association (NOSA), a major contestant for the seat of president in the coming elections, Barrister (Mrs) Beatrice Dakas CJ Dakas, has appealed to members to come back and vote for the care and tenderness of a mother she would offer to help unite and revitalise the association.

She made the appeal recently , while in an interview with SUNDAY STANDARD in Jos, the Plateau State capital, indicating her desire to bring back unity of the association when given the chance to serve her alma-mater as president.
The Contestant who appeared to be so passionate about NOSA, said, “I have seen what the men have done and have tried in their own ways to bring the association to where it is today. But I felt as a woman, I am not limited and believe, if elected as President of NOSA, I will add on what they have achieved and make it better.

“As a woman, I know that because of the care and tenderness that mothers give generally to their children, it gives them a sense of belonging and I will ensure I extend same to members of the association, my alma-mater so that it will grow from where it is today, to a place where all of us will be proud of and be eager to associate with the association.
“I believe that when given the mandate, my leadership and the team that I am going to work with, we will be able to bring NOSA back to limelight because it has been quiet. Not many people heard about it. It is because of leadership issues that it seems we are not in existence.

“But, by the grace of God, when I come on board, I will ensure that our members are called back and the unity, progress and development of the association will be back. We will all be proud of the association and of course, they will know that there is a leader!”, she enthused.

Dakas, however, expressed concern that many of the NOSA members were demoralised and not happy and had withdrawn from active participation in activities in the past, with some refusing to identify with the association because they have not seen what would push them to be part of the association.

This, according to her, was because other past leaders of the association have not given them the inclusiveness they needed. Encouraging such people, she said, “You know, it is not a one-man-gang association, but it is supposed to be for all of us so that all of us will have a sense of belonging in the association. But as members, we have not experienced that inclusiveness.

“I urge you all to come out and liaise with my team and let us put our hands on deck and ensure that we revive or revitalise it and bring this association back to where it is supposed to be. For me, I like good and accountable leadership and that is what I will deliver if given the position by the grace of God”, the legal luminary prayed.
