3,072 gender-based violence cases recorded in FCT

About 3,072 Gender Based Violence (GBV) cases have been recorded in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) since the beginning of this year. The mandate secretary of the Women Affairs secretariat of the Federal Capital Territory Administration, Mr Adebayo Benjamin disclosed this at a news briefing in Abuja.

According to him, the recorded cases covered a wide margin of abuses, including domestic, sexual assault, rape, and other forms of violence against women and children.

He highlighted the urgent need for intensified efforts to combat the issues and protect vulnerable individuals, particularly in the nation’s capital.
“As of today, we have data of 3,072 Gender Based Violence, GBV, on the national dash board in the FCT, not in the country”, he stressed.
