42 killed in fresh Kaduna attacks

No fewer than fourty-two (42) persons were killed in two separate attacks on communities of two Local Government Areas in Kaduna State by gunmen last Sunday.

The two communities attacked were Madamai of Jaura LGA where Thirty-four (34) were killed with eight (8) killed during reprisal at Kacecere of Zango Kataf LGA respectively.

Troops neutralise ISWAP/BH insurgents

Troops of Sector 2 Joint Task Force North East, “Operation HADIN KAI” have neutralised the two most dreaded Islamic State West Africa Province and Boko Haram Insurgents in Tarmuwa LGA of Yobe  State.

This happened last Sunday when the troops were responding to the insurgents’ infiltration attempt into Babangida Community of the Local Government Areas, owing to the logistics blockade imposed on the insurgents.

Chief of Army Staff visits Plateau State

Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Farouk Yahaya, last Wednesday, visited Jos, the Plateau State Capital following recent security challenge that rocked the State.

While on a courtesy visit to Governor Simon Bako Lalong, of Plateau State, the Chief of Army Staff consoled with the people of the state and assured them of their commitment to a safe and peaceful plateau as all measures were in place to fish out criminal elements in the country.

Buhari makes fresh appointments for ICPC, RMAFC

President Muhammadu Buhari, has forwarded names of newly appointed Commissioner-Nomnees to fill vacant positions at the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) and Revenue Mobilization, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) to the National Assembly for approval.

The nominees for ICPC included: Dr Mojisola Yaya-Kolade (Ekiti State), Mrs Anne Otelafu (Cross River),  Alhaji Goni Ali Gujba (Yobe State), Dr Louis Solomon (Adamawa State) and Senator Anthony O. Agbo respectively, while Engr. Mohamed Baba, was confirmed as Federal Commissioner for RMAFC.

Nigerians celebrates Independence as Buhari unveils critical issues

President Muhammadu Buhari, has disclosed that the recent arrests of IPOB Leader Nnamdi Kanu and Sunday Adeyemo, revealed that some high-profile financiers were behind those arrested.

He disclosed this Friday, while in a nationwide broadcast on the occasion marking Nigeria’s 61st Independence Anniversary saying, “We are vigorously pursuing these financiers including one identified as a serving member of the National Assembly. This is a clear example of how people abandon their national leadership positions for their selfish gains”.

National Assembly asked Buhari to declare bandits, sponsors as terrorists

The House of Representatives has joined Senate expressing support for the move by Senate asking President Muhammadu Buhari to declare bandits and their sponsors as terrorists.

The House said doing so would underline the determination of the Federal Government to reduce criminality and murders by bandits across the country. The development followed a motion of urgent public importance brought by Chairman of the House Committee on Defence,  Babajimi Benson,  which members unanimously adopted.

DHQ denies airstrike on Lake-Chad fishermen

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ),  has, yesterday, insisted that it bombed and identified Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) camp on the fringes of Chad and not fishermen

The DHQ’s statement faulted the claims that 20 fishermen were killed in an airstrike conducted by the air component of Operation Hadin Kai at Kwantan Daban Masara General Area around Lake Chad.
