Bauchi Gov. kicks off Qur’anic Competition

The 38th edition of the 2023 Qur’anic Recitation Competition kicked off in Bauchí, with Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchí State declaring the week-long competition open.
He advised the judges to handle the affairs honestly with fear of Allah.

Governor Bala Mohammed who was represented at Kafin Madaki, headquarters of Ganjuwa Local Government Area of the state and venue of this year’s competition by his Deputy, Hon. Mohammed Auwwal Jatau, said that the conduct of Qur’anic Recitation Competition since 1986, has immensely contributed in engaging youths to concentrate on the learning and memorisation of the Holy Qur’an.

He appreciated the outstanding performances of Bauchi State delegates in the competition at both National and International levels over the years. He said that the excellent performance of the delegates informed the decision of the state government to morally and financially be supporting the conduct of the annual event.

According to the Governor, “I am aware that about 240 pupils, both male and female will participate in the 38th edition of this year’s State Qur’anic Recitation Competition in six (6) categories, out of which only 12 pupils will be selected to represent the state at the National Competition”

Governor Bala Mohammed called on the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Societal Re-orientation, Caretaker Chairman of Ganjuwa Local Government Council, Chairman and members of the State Qur’anic Recitation Competition Committee to work tirelessly towards ensuring the success of the programme.

“I wish to thank the Almighty Allah for sparing our lives to witness the opening ceremony of the 38th edition of the State Qur’anic Recitation Competition. May the Almighty Allah reward whoever contributes spiritually, morally and financially towards the success of the competition with Jannatu Firdausi.”

The State Commissioner for Religious Affairs and Societal Reorientation, Yakubu Ibrahim Hamza and Chairman of the State Qur’anic Recitation Competition Committee, Imam Hassan Usman Zango have earlier in their welcome addresses expressed gratitude to Governor Bala Mohammed for supporting the conduct of the annual competition. And promised to justify the confidence reposed in them.
