The Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly and member representing Gboko West state constituency, Hon. Hyacinth Aondona Dajoh Saturday recently commissioned three infrastructural projects in his constituency, awarded scholarship to three hundred indigents students and donated ten thousand (10,000) exercise books for both students and pupils in the constituency.

The projects include a multipurpose science laboratory at Government Secondary School Ikpa Mbatyerev, renovation of Grade 1 Area Court and building of Mbakwen Traditional Council hall all at Woihyev.

Chairman of the occasion and Speaker, Jigawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Haruna Aliyu, said he was proud to be associated with the laudable projects embarked upon by the Speaker within his four months in office and described the projects as “people oriented”.

The North West Chairman, Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures said “in less than one hundred days, my colleague has been able to put up these projects. I’m very proud of him”, Haruna eulogized Dajoh in an interview with newsmen.

The Jigawa Speaker also commended the Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr Hyacinth Alia for giving the state legislature free hand to operate and also commended the Speaker for maintaining a cordial relationship with the executive and judiciary arms of government which he acknowledged has set Benue on the path of unprecedented development.

Speaking in dual capacities as representative of Governor Hyacinth Alia and Guest Speaker of the occasion, Chief of Staff to the Governor, Rt Hon. Paul Biam hailed Hon. Dajoh for achieving a lot for his constituents within a short time at the assembly. He encouraged the people to sustain their support and prayers for the number 3 citizen to continue to wax stronger.

Biam, who wondered where the Speaker was getting resources to assist his people and execute tangible projects for them, urged other lawmakers to take a cue from Hon. Dajoh by using their emoluments judiciously to help their people.

“Since he became Speaker, Hon. Dajoh has brought us to this constituency four times. At every point, he is either donating money to a church or he comes to commission projects.

“I want to stop to ask, where is this young man getting this kind of money? Does it mean I was not paid when I was at the Assembly?”, The former Majority Leader of the Benue State House of Assembly asked rhetorically even as he noted that “if you are careful, you can put together your payment and do these projects”.

He thanked the Speaker and his wife, Cynthia for their commitment to community development and advised Gbemacha people not to distract Dajoh from the good work he was doing.

In his speech, the Speaker, Hon. Dajoh appreciated the people of Gbemacha for finding him worthy to represent them and also his Assembly colleagues for electing him Speaker of the House.

He assured his constituents of sustained effective representation throughout his 4-year tenure.

“This is just the beginning. You elected me to represent you for four years and I believe we will keep on bringing you dividends of democracy without slacking”, the Speaker assured.

Earlier in a goodwill message on behalf of Gboko Traditional Council, the Ter Gboko, HRH Gabriel Shosum poured royal blessings on the Benue Speaker, wishing him well to attract more government presence to his constituency.

He called on the Benue State government to construct the road linking Abetse-Ikpenger-Akpaegh-Selagi to ease movement as well as boost economic activities of the people in the area.

Governor Hyacinth Alia through his Chief of Staff commissioned the multipurpose science laboratory. While the Jigawa Speaker, Hon. Aliyu commissioned Mbakwen District hall. The state Chief Judge, Justice Maurice Ikpambese, commissioned the Grade 1 Area Court.
