Worried by the internal political wrangling within the Benue State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), a body of APC elders from the three senatorial districts in the state under the aegis of Concerned APC Stakeholders have intervened in what they described as “unnecessary distractions”

The forum which rose from a meeting with Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia at the conference hall, Governor’s Lodge, Makurdi while addressing news men said it was worried by the recent attacks on the governor and government of Benue State on social media. It pointed to the content of a communique it saw on social media under the leadership of APC local government chairmen as well as the resolution of the State Working Committee in respect to leadership, meeting and party activities.

The forum said it sees the internal wrangling as a deliberate attempt to distract Fr Hyacinth Iormem Alia led administration from fulfilling his campaign promises to the people of Benue state.

It regreted that the unfortunate outing by the APC local government chairmen has opened a vista for the opposition to take full advantage which culminated in a recent motion sponsored by an opposition senator (PDP) from the state against the government of Benue State.

Led by a former President of the Senate, Chief Ameh Ebute and assisted by Chief Barnabas Gemade, retired General Lawrence Onoja and other prominent Benue elders, the concerned APC stakeholders distanced itself from the actions of the local government chairmen and party executive committee.

It lamented the inability to explore all necessary avenues for proper engagements before resorting to unnecessary media outings that have further escalated what would have easily been managed internally by the party.

The stakeholders acknowledged that at several meetings and fora, elders of the party as well as executives had cause to pass a vote of confidence on the governor and applauded his leadership style.

It is on that basis that the concerned elders forum have found it necessary to address the public and ask all concerned party members to desist from further outings and stop any impending actions that would cause disunity in the party.

The forum advised Governor Alia to discountenance all distractions and focus on developing the state.
