Couples enjoined to build lasting relationships

A call has been made for wives and husbands to build lasting relationships with their spouses, by ensuring they set the right foundation from the very beginning.

This formed part of the discourse in the special awards ceremony for senior couples tagged “The Wife,” a couples’ luncheon held recently at the Golden Gate Restaurant, Ikoyi, Lagos.

Arc Emma Okafor who was Chairman of the event, enjoined parents to train their children in the right way so as to have rest in thier old age.

The Chief Coordinator, Pastor Mrs Ada Emeka in her opening address, appreciated the stakeholders of “The Wife”, saying that their commitment has helped a lot in shaping the journey of the organisation.

“The Wife, ” a faith based organisation that trains wives to excel in their marriages, and in their homes, celebrated 17 years of its existence and gave awards to couples who had been married for 25 years and above, with testimonies of an exemplary home, on Saturday, September 23, 2023.

Rev Damilola Sanni while addressing the couples, enjoined them to honour their marriage as it is an institution instituted by God Himself.

Rev Sanni charged members to be more committed saying at 17, “The Wife” is old enough to walk on her two feet with outlets spread over the nation and internationally.

“The Wife” poised to grow the love between husbands and wives in order to achieve a fun filled marriage, gave award to immediate past National Secretary of Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), one time Lagos State PFN chairman, and General Overseer of Guiding Light Assembly, Pastor Wale Adefarasin and his wife Pastor Mrs Laolu Adefarasin.

There were other recipients of the award, who include Pastor and Dr Mrs Sam Okoro, Rev and Mrs Ambrose Massaquoi, Rev and Dr Mrs Dimanozie, Arc and Dr Mrs Okafor, Chief and Olori Ifashegun Elegushi, and Rev and Pastor Mrs Falohun.

The Visioner and Founder of “The Wife”, Dr. Mrs Nkem Okoro, in her speech gave more insight into the objectives of the organization which includes equipping and empowering wives to achieve their God given purposes in life, and to teach and take care of themselves.

“The Wife” couples forum luncheon 2023 had in attendance, Mrs Bridget Massaquoi, who spoke on “Building lasting relationship with your spouse”, Pastor Ken Ezih spoke on “Love and discipline”, Mrs Adunola Akinyemiju spoke on “Setting the right foundation from the beginning” and Dr Getrude Dike on “Guiding the next generation to make the right choice”.
