FERVENT PRAYERS RESPONSIBLE FOR SUCCESSFUL CONDUCT OF ELECTIONS-Mutfwang

The peaceful and successful conduct of the 2023 general elections has been attributed to the fervent prayers offered by religious bodies.

The church has also been tasked to sustain the prayers for the incoming administration in Plateau State to peacefully take over the reins of power and to commence governance on the right footing.

The Governor -elect, of the state, Barrister Caleb Mutfwang stated this in Jos recently at the Award and 2023 Support Dinner organized by the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Plateau State Chapter.

Represented by the Deputy Governor -elect, Hon. Mrs. Josphine Piyo, he further noted that the prayers offered by the church helped in thwarting the plans some elements had in derailing the electoral process.

He noted with satisfaction the immense contribution of the church towards ensuring progressive and united Plateau where citizens flourished in prosperity.

The Governor -elect said “I appreciate the PFN, Plateau State Chapter for the good work you have been doing towards promoting peaceful co-existence among citizens. I appreciate you also for your prayers before, during and after the 2023 general elections and I appeal to you to sustain it for the incoming administration to succeed”.

Mrs. Piyo who was accompanied by the former Chairman of Jos South Local Government Council, Hon. Peter Vwang Dung expressed the determination of the governor -elect to run an all-inclusive government where all shades of opinions and interests would be considered and given a sense of belonging.

Reverend Dr. Stephen Dangana, the Plateau State PFN Chairman said the occasion was organized to show appreciation and recognize high profile dignitaries who had contributed to the service to God and humanity.

“The Word encourages us to give honour to whom honour is due but even more double honour to the deserving. It is in response to this that we have gathered here to joyfully acknowledge and recognize very distinguished individuals who have contributed and greatly impacted the church and society,” the man of God stressed.

Senator Istifanus Gyang who represented the Gbong Gwom Jos, His Majesty Da Jacob Gyang Buba who was honoured with a meritorious award for immense contribution to the church and service to humanity, expressed delight for the recognition.

Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State, who was represented by the Speaker, PLHA, Rt-Hon Nuhu Abok Ayuba who was also honoured with the award of Selfless Service pledged to continue to support the church in building a formidable society where peace and justice reign.

Other awardees include Rev. Prof. Gideon Para Mallam, President and Chief Executive Officer of Gideon and Funmi Para Mallam Peace Foundation, Pastor Dr. Williams Kumuyi, Rev. Dr. Tor Ujah, President Mission House, HRM. Prof. James O. Iorzue, the Tor Tiv and President, Benue Council of Chiefs, Hon. Beni Lar, Prof. Suleiman Bogoro, Dr. Douye Diri, Government of Bayelsa State amongst others.
