THE Perate of Bridging the GAPS College of Bishops, United States of America (USA), His Grace, Archbishop. Johnny Myles Riley, has enthroned Bright Samuel Otso, of the Lighthouse Communion Church International (LCCI) as the new Bishop to expand the church and bridge the gap between the church and communities.
This took place recently , on the occasion marking the Bishopric Consecration and Enthronement of Bishop Bright Samuel Otso, held at the Lighthouse Communion Church International along Okadum (Odus) Bauchi Ring Road Jos, Plateau State capital, Nigeria.
Speaking shortly after the consecration and enthronement of the new Bishop, the USA Archbishop said they were excited to have Bishop Bright to bridge the gap in the family. He pointed out that “I think, it is a significant role that we expand our Church here in Africa because that is the foundation of Christianity.
“This is also an opportunity for us to bring Africans who are in the diaspora (US) back to give us opportunity to bridge the gap in moving forward to make it easy for individuals to connect with other individuals in Africa.
“As you can see, the name of the Ministry is Bridging The Gaps Ministry. This is for us to foster the kingdom of God. We have to move pass our denominational boundaries and move to the point that we can come together along common ground”, he enthused.
Riley, therefore, called on all Christians to break down barriers that exist among them because of denominational differences, culture and move forward to help those who have issues of hunger or poverty because it is the responsibility of the church and not government or UN anymore.
“We gonna push forward, we gonna break down those barriers to continue to call on us to look at each other from a different perspective. We are all God’s people and should make a difference in the lives of those that are less fortunate because of education, war and political issues. But as a church, we must be willing to come into the caox of the world and transform the world to be a better place”.
On his part, the Plateau State Chairman of Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Rev. Dunka Joseph Dechi Gomwalk, congratulated the new Bishop, Bright Samuel Otso. He described him as an active member of the PFN and also an asset to them.
“It is an honourable office and it becomes doubly honourable when men carry it with honour. The man who is standing in the office today, I believe he is an honourable man and I am excited because I believe God is giving him this opportunity to express his gifts. It is a demonstration of the fact that his faithfulness to God has been recognised”, PFN encouraged.
However, the newly enthroned Bishop, Bright Samuel Otso, (DCL, UNGPA, DKA, FFMN) said, “I feel elated, excited, fulfilled. It is a dream come true. My primary calling is to unite the body of Christ and one of the ways is to bridge the gap between the traditional and the modern churches and see how we can see the low and high, bring the poor and the rich together and see that Christ is the ultimate in the Church”.
Meanwhile, a community developer from the United States of America (USA), Mama Rev. Barbara Pitts Riley, said they were into youth leadership development and providing affordable housing scheme for over 20 years. And that the project was globally and not only for Africa, but also for countries like Australia, Philippine, Thailand and many more.
