Governor commends foundation for first Quranic recitation

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, recently reemphasised his government’s commitment towards  the promotion of religious education for the younger generation to grow intellectually and spiritually sound.

Speaking through his deputy, Rt. Hon. Auwal Jatau, during the official opening of the first Qur’anic Recitation Competition, organized by the Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi Foundation, held at Event Centre, Bauchi, he said that  his administration, since inception has been supporting religious groups in their activities aimed at infusing discipline among members of the society.

He said his administration believes in the importance of providing a platform for young people to showcase their exceptional talents and deepen their understanding of the Holy Quran, hence the need to be sponsoring the conduct of Annual Qur’anic Recitation Competition across the state.

The governor applauded the Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi Foundation for its efforts towards the promotion of Islamic education and for organizing this prestigious event that celebrates the beauty of the Quran.

He acknowledged that “Through its tireless dedication and commitment, the foundation has truly enlightened young minds and fostered deeper understanding of the Holy Quran.” And pointed out that the foundation’s relentless efforts in promoting Islamic education and spreading the teachings of Islam is highly commendable.

 

Earlier, in his welcome address, the Chairman of the competition committee, Sheikh Sayyadi Ali, unfolded that Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi Foundation has over 600 Qur’anic schools across the selected states of the federation as part of its contribution to the promotion of Islamic knowledge.

Other speakers at the event include: His Royal Highness, the Emir of Dass, Usman Bilyaminu Othman, Commissioner of Religious Affairs and Social Reorientation, Sheikh Surumbai Dahiru Bauchi, among others.

Highlight of the occasion was the paper presentations by Dr. Fatihi MSDUB of  Federal University Kashere and Dr. Mujtaba Abdulkadir Jahun of A.D. Rufai College of Legal and Islamic Studies Misau, titled :”The Roles of Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi Foundation towards the establishment of Qur’anic Schools in Nigeria and West African Countries at large. The second paper was titled : ” The importance of learning Tajweed to the Qur’anic Reciters/ Memorizers”.

Our correspondent learnt that states competing in the first edition of the competition are: Bauchi, Gombe, Kano, Katsina, Kaduna, Jigawa and Niger.
