Governor mourns renowned Islamic scholar

Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State has received with deep sadness and a heavy heart the news of the passing away of a renowned Islamic scholar, Sheikh Abubakar Giro Argungu who died after a brief illness.

He described the demise of the cleric who died on Wednesday 06/09/2023, as a great loss not only to the Muslim Ummah but also to the entire northern region and Nigeria as a whole.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya said the late Sheikh Argungu was a distinguished scholar and exemplary leader who devoted his life to the propagation of the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

According to him, “Sheikh Abubakar Giro Argungu’s life was a shining example of commitment to the teachings of Islam and the promotion of peace and harmony.

“His contributions to Islamic scholarship has left an indelible mark on the hearts and minds of many, and his legacy will continue to inspire the ummah and generations to come”, he stated.

The governor, on behalf of the government and people of Gombe State, conveyed his deepest condolences to the immediate family of the deceased.

Governor Inuwa, who is also the Northern Governors’ Forum Chairman, also extended his heartfelt commiserations to the leadership of the Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah wa Iqamatissunnah, JIBWIS where Sheikh Abubakar Giro Argungu played a significant role in advancing Islamic teachings, noting that his absence will be terribly felt, but his teachings will live on as guiding light.

He then offered his sympathies to the government and people of Kebbi State and the entire Muslim ummah in Nigeria, praying Almighty Allah to forgive his shortcomings and reward his good deeds with a place in Jannatul Firdaus.
