Magu should be prosecuted –PDP

THE Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called for the prosecution of the suspended Acting National Chairman of EFCC, Ibrahim Magu.

The main opposition party in a press statement in Abuja by its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan said the revelation of diversion of recovered funds and fraudulent sales of assets seized by the EFCC among others have further exposed the racket that the fight against corruption had become under the APC government.

“According to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the development has also exposed why corruption has worsened under the Buhari administration, as documented by the transparency international (IT).

The statement noted that it is an embarrassment to the nation that the head of anti-corruption Agency in administration led by African Union (AU) anti-corruption champion and pride itself on Zero tolerance for corruption is being dragged in allegation of looting recovered fund and other bare face fraud.

The statement added that what Nigerians expect is for president Buhari to enforce the law by directing relevant agencies to commence actions that would, lead to magu’s prosecution 

e Federal Government in the phases of implementation.

“All those necessitated this new look at the budget so as to free certain amounts of money hitherto appropriated for certain projects which in the circumstances are not as expedient to prioritise.

“We looked at other infrastructure that need prioritisation so as to address the pandemic and the difficulties that it has brought to the lives of Nigerians.”

El-Yakub lauded the cordial relationship currently existing between the executive and legislative arms of government, saying it is a relationship that is based on mutual understanding, respect and partnership in nation-building.

The presidential aide said the National Assembly needed the executive arm of government because it is the arm that implements laws that have been passed by the National Assembly.

He said the revised 2020 budget was one of the bills the National Assembly looked at expeditiously because it is an amendment that was necessitated by the circumstances of the moment which also caused a serious strain on the economy.
