MINISTER FLAGS – OFF MAKURDI-OTUKPO-ENUGU ROAD CONSTRUCTION

The Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi has flagged off construction of Makurdi-Otukpo-Enugu road with a promise to grant Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State all his requests aimed at developing the state.

Engr. Umahi, who was speaking at Apir, a suburb in Makurdi Local Government Area during the flag- off of the dual carriage way, commended Governor Alia for his development driven posture in the state.

While commending the governor for his efforts at transforming the state through numerous ongoing road projects in Makurdi, the state capital, the minister thanked Governor Alia for creating an enabling environment for smooth execution of the project without hindrance.

Earlier, the State Governor, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Alia, appreciated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for awarding a contract for the dualisation of Makurdi- Otukpo-Enugu federal road.

Governor Alia thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the project and other numerous road projects across the country.

He assured the minister and contractor handling the project, China Habour Engineering Company Limited (CHEC) of the state government’s support/ partnership to ensure that the project would be completed within specified time.

Governor Alia who also appreciated God for granting the state a new leaf under his watch, thanked the people of Benue for their patience. He called on them to continue to support his administration and that of President Ahmed Tinubu for the overall progress of the state and country.

While expressing confidence and belief in China Habour Engineering Company to deliver a quality job, the governor charged the host communities to support the contractor in the area of security and other ways they can for speedy execution of the project.

On their part, the CHEC team promised to do their best to deliver a quality job on the 266.4km road project.

The overall funding of the project, according to the contractor, was a partnership between the federal government of Nigeria and the Export-Import Bank of China.
